Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) during the year 1983 constructed this Recreation Centre on a vast piece of land admeasuring about seven acres. This Centre was subsequently handed over to the Board of Trustees under the leadership of Late Padmashree Babubhai Rathi, the founder of Industrial Estate at Nashik, in the year 1983. A Board of Trustees and the Governing Council included representatives from Large, Medium and Small scale Industries. The nominees from MIDC, Nashik Industries Manufacturers Association (NIMA) and NICE joined the group and completed the quorum.

This Centre was then in the infant stage and offered minimum facilities such as Badminton Court, a Billiards Room and a Tennis Court. It also provided an auditorium with a seating capacity of around 200 people and an Open Air Stage at the rear of the Auditorium. The facilities available were maintained well to promote this Welfare Centre to a prestigious level. The expansion program of NIWEC was undertaken from 1989 in stages.

Thereafter this Centre has never looked back. The Children Park, Health Club and Lawns were subsequently added. Bar & Restaurant which was added later fulfilled the needs of the users. The latest addition to the facilities of the Centre is an enviable Joggers Park, Swimming Pool
